Skill Session: Specifying paper for letterpress.

How to choose paper for letterpress printing

You have probably seen beautiful prints on soft, textured paper that sings when combined with a signature letterpress bite. In this skill session, we'll shed some light on how to explore the world of paper for yourself, and to communicate clearly with your printer so you receive the results you desire. We'll talk about all the different weights, calipers and finishes, and what it all means in relation to your project. And we will give you plenty of resources to learn more.

Kristen and Loren's Letterpress Invitation With letterpress printing, we consider every color a "spot color." That means that every color has its own plate, and the ink is mixed to the specified color and added to the press. A two-color print will have two plates and two press runs. But what if you want a third color without the expense of a third plate? Read More

Wholesale Letterpress Fulfillment Unbranded Packaging This entry is especially for our letterpress printing friends who have experienced the boom and bust rhythm that's part of our industry. When you're busy, you're SO busy. You're turning away orders! And when you're slow, you're so, so slow. Agonizingly slow. Why is that? In his book Predictable Success: Getting Your Organization on the Growth Track – and Keeping it There, business strategist Les McKeown calls this phenomenon "The Artisan Trap." McKeown explains that this is because success isn't dependent on you alone. You need a team of people Read More

Kindness Rules Foil Art Print by Rise and Shine Letterpress Digital printing is a great way to get lots of color on softer, un-coated papers with short runs. But, not all digital printing is equal. These prints were made on a finely-tuned HP Indigo digital press. The look and feel of the printing is almost indistinguishable from traditional offset printing, in some ways outperforming it in terms of color saturation and vibrancy. Read More

This video tells a little bit more about the inspiration behind calling ourselves makers, and shows you a behind-the-scenes look at the letterpress printing process. These are the same steps we'll take when printing your design.

Chipboard letterpress hang tags.

We're excited to show off these die-cut hang tags for Ps&Qs, a great fashion store in Philly. If you're in Philly, check them out at 820 South Street. Or visit their website to order online: http://www.psandqs.com.

These were printed on 100% recycled tan kraft chipboard with vegetable-based black ink. Once they were printed, we die cut the tags with round corners and a punch so each tag is exactly the same with perfectly rounded corners.
