About This Project
Designed by YURU Studio, these business cards feature several processes on one small card. The front of the card has a delicate raised blind emboss, pressed just enough to raise the artwork without damaging the delicate texture of the cotton paper. The back has both matte silver foil stamping and a blind deboss. This is a good illustration of the difference between embossing, which is raised, and debossing, which is pressed-in.
To preserve the impression depth on both sides, the cards were duplexed after printing and trimmed with a die cut. A guillotine cut would have flattened the embossing, so we had to take this extra step to make them perfect. As you can see, the die cutting imparts a slight bevel on the face of the card where it is gently compressed by the steel rule cutting die.
